Mini Tour with Danny Barnes

Barnes came to the Bay Area for a string of shows and I had the pleasure of carting him around to gigs in Larkspur, Santa Cruz, and Petaluma. He opened for The Waybacks at these engagements which was great for us... he'd play, Waybacks would start... he'd sit in for a couple of numbers... then we'd blaze home for early bedtime. Still, it makes me so glad I never chose the touring life.

I set up video for the first two shows. The video above is "Pretty Daughter" from Santa Cruz, one of many highlights. I will be processing more songs soon so you might want to check back heret later this week. Unfortunately I didn't get any video of him performing w/ The Waybacks, who were really nice guys and excellent musicians. I think their fiddler/vocalist Warren Hood (who's late dad played fiddle on Bad Livers' first record) has an especially bright future ahead of him. Some of his solos were jaw-dropping and he's a really good singer.

I'm including some pictures in the October Gallery so look for that in Galleries.

What else can I tell you? The folks who put on the show in Santa Cruz at the Kuumba Jazz Center were very nice and their grandson was the Santa Cruz version of Simon. He really knows his music and bikes! And he was pretty floored by Barnes' folktronics show (as was everybody else.)

We were treated nicely at the Mystic Theater up in Petaluma too. The sound guy was really into Barnes' one-man-band setup and projected some video as a backdrop which matched very nicely with the music. The girl who ran the show was also very friendly and look for a pic of her cool boots in the gallery.
