What you can do to stop the Wall Street bankers from getting OUR CASH FOR THEIR TRASH
Henry Paulson is trying to ram this through congress without any discussion.
Now... we could expect things like this to happen in perhaps North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Russia, or good ole Nazi Germany. But this is the United States of America!! Our congressmen need to discuss this bill (and hopefully they are) but they need your input pronto!!
Please take a few minutes to let them know how you feel. Tell them that you don't think we the taxpayers should have to pay for Wall Street Bankers' misdeeds and mistakes. Tell them that nobody (such as the Treasury Secretary) can be above the law.
Ask them why we are bailing out the financial companies yet WHY AREN'T WE ALSO DEMANDING REFORMS IN OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM?
Remember... everything was "fine" (according to them just days ago) and now they are saying it's so pressing that we don't even have time to discuss it. DO YOU BELIEVE THIS??
Yes, stocks are going down and your 401(k) is losing value. Do you really think giving your tax $$$$ to the bankers is going to save the stock market? HELL NO, IT'S JUST RESCUING THE BANKS SO THEY CAN BUY UP ALL THE ASSETS CHEAP... LATER... AFTER YOU ARE BROKE.
Don't let them do it. The time to act is now. It's up to us as Americans to stand up, and, if we don't... we'll deserve what we get, and it's not going to be fun. Please contact your representatives today. I will be adding more "letter ideas" below. Note the FedUpUSA.org site isn't just slamming Paulson's proposal... it also offers suggestions on what we can and should do. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL, FOLKS!!!

Some tips if you make phone calls to congressional offices
I got these from "Realistic", a member of the Ticker Forum. He suggests the following:
- A non-aggressive manner
- Knowing your audience - 2nd most important tactic. When I called those opposed, I expressed my strong desire for opposition to the entire bailout, with some compromises in case it should get passed. When talking to Dodd or Frank's office, I expressed my concern for America and that a bailout may be necessary, but that we should have extensive reforms (many listed elsewhere)
- Open for compromise
- Press KEY issues (such as those listed above)
- Identify with the staffer (They all loved when I said I don't want to pay for my neighbors Escalade)
- Offer realistic solutions (not just saying NOOOOO BAILOUT)
- Thanking the staffer for their time
