Keep your eye on the ball

We once again interrupt duckies and bunnies to remind you that it's official: you've been swindled in broad daylight!

From Bloomberg:

Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said in September they would comply with congressional demands for transparency in a $700 billion bailout of the banking system. Two months later, as the Fed lends far more than that in separate rescue programs that didn't require approval by Congress, Americans have no idea where their money is going or what securities the banks are pledging in return.

It's bad, you know.   read more »

Alameda Shout Out

Today we find Alameda in the national news regarding the controversial gay marriage ban in California. From USA Today:

...

Dueling rallies often involved shouting and arrests. Election night was no different in Alameda, across from San Francisco.

Tim Tarasov, 25, stood on the corner of Otis Drive and Park Street hoisting a sign approving the ban in the moments before the polls closed Tuesday. Across the street stood those approving same-sex marriage.

"I have two kids and a beautiful wife at home, and I believe in a marriage that's going to create happiness for the family," said Tarasov, of Sacramento. "Only one man and one woman can make that happen, because the Bible said so."   read more »

Send them love! Send them duckies and bunnies!!

bunnySafe for now.Today's congressional vote against George Bush's bailout plan for bankers was perhaps the most glorious thing to happen in grass roots politics since the 60's. Especially after the sudden crammage of the Patriot Act and that duct tape-induced madness leading up to the Iraq War, I was expecting dogs and ponies.

But instead, they in fact LISTENED to us!

Well I know the pigmen are persistent, so they'll be back with another plan soon.   read more »

Duckies and Bunnies will return after these messages

OK folks... someday soon I will get back to duckies and bunnies but right now it is CRUCIAL to let Congress know that you are against this bailout of Wall Street Bankers!! They do not deserve our children's future earnings.

The media is telling you this is a done deal but it's not... they won't vote until the votes are lined up and they aren't voting yet... so THERE IS NO CONSENSUS AT THIS TIME!!!   read more »

A Solution That Works

A Solution That Works

[Thank you to "Eleua" at the Ticker Forum for writing this]

Dear Member of Congress:

By now, you have been thoroughly deluged by angry phone calls and letters from your constituents. They do not wish to pay Wall Street bankers trillions of dollars of their hard earned money for putting our financial system at this level of peril. You should respect their wishes.   read more »

What you can do to stop the Wall Street bankers from getting OUR CASH FOR THEIR TRASH

Henry Paulson is trying to ram this through congress without any discussion.

Now... we could expect things like this to happen in perhaps North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Russia, or good ole Nazi Germany. But this is the United States of America!! Our congressmen need to discuss this bill (and hopefully they are) but they need your input pronto!!   read more »
