Regatta Wrap-Up Summer 2013
It was the EPIC SUMMER of RACING 2013 in San Francisco Bay! Seemed like every weekend we were at a regatta, except when we weren't we were at that other regatta known as America's Cup.
The first biggie of the summer was the St. Francis Heavy Weather Opti Regatta along the San Francisco cityfront where the America's Cup races were soon to be held. Mid-June winds had it blowing 20-25 knots for nearly 3 days. Practicing AC72's often crossed the course along with the usual boat and barge traffic. Simon said it was super exciting to be out there so close sailing along Oracle and the Kiwis.
We had a couple of regattas at Richmond that were also blowing hard, and the Redwood City in May might have been the nukiest. Water was a little flatter later on at a couple of Tiburon regattas and our own at Encinal in the Oakland-Alameda Estuary.
