We had an amazing week up in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in July. We camped at Lodgepole and had a sweet spot right on a river bank (next to a nice family from Palm Springs.) On our first night, we saw mother and cub rooting around in the river bed below us.
After spending last spring break in Vancouver, BC, we resumed our desert adventures and camped in Joshua Tree National Park for 5 days at the Blackrock campground near Yucca Valley. (For prior desert adventure, check out Death Valley - my personal favorite.)
Our timing during Spring Break 2010 was ideal for our visit to Death Valley National Park. It had just rained a lot before we got there... cooling everything off and giving rise to peak wildflowers for our pleasure. And just after we left, the windstorms hit.
We stayed at the Furnace Creek Campground where there were roadrunners running around the campsite. It's a good campsite and we'd stay there again.
We had such a great time staying at Curry Village this past summer that we booked winter cabins the moment we returned home. So much for that! The cabins are being closed PERMANENTLY (along with many of the tents) due to large, falling rocks.
