The largest gathering of 29'ers in the western hemisphere ever! Simon and Henry raced together in #510, which turned out to be the former boat of their coach for the event Hanken.
Hoel beats Henry to the mark with the "lift of the day" at Lucky Cove on a very desperate-for-wind day. Sometimes the puff catches you by surprise, as evidence here. There is a cliff just behind me where I am videoing and the puffs come over with very little warning.
Collection of regattas in the SF Bay Area and down to Southern California. Henry won the Summer BAYS trophy for the second year in a row and the first with SFYC rather than EYC. Simon raced opti's and 420's. He qualified for the Bemis finals in San Diego and got 15th down there. He was also "honorably discharged" from optimist sailing following WCC's down at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.
The annual fabulous Opti Heavy Weather Regatta at the St. Francis Yacht Club on the San Francisco city front. Epic venue as optimist sailors race on the America's Cup course stretching from Alcatraz to the Golden Gate Bridge.
This year was especially exciting because Simon and Henry -- used to being the featherweights getting blown out at this venue -- both made it to the podium and were award by none other than Mr. Blue Planet himself... Kimball Livingston.
Very fun team racing event hosted by Cal Yacht Club. I think we had 9 or 10 teams. The SFYC team of two Boeger brothers, two Foox brothers, and Sarah Young won each an every race.
