This might be my best opti timelapse video. It was extremely windy this day and you can see the puffs rocketing onto the race course.

Opti Racing Richardson Bay TIMELAPSE

Time lapse video of a local opti regatta in Richardson Bay, which isn't too far from the Golden Gate. It occupies the water between Sausalito and Tiburon / Belvedere.

This was a super windy day in the region. Too windy for high school sailing regatta in FJ's freeing up Simon to have a blast in the opti.

As you've probably figured out from visiting this site that my boys Simon and Henry have competed racing optimist dinghies for several years in San Francisco Bay and beyond. In Spring 2016, our team San Francisco Yacht Club hosted the USODA Team Trials, the most important qualifier for Team USA. You have to qualify to race at team trials so these are only the best young sailors in the country.

I created this site for the event and it was a huge success. Great wind conditions and great racing ending with a double rainbow of Angel Island during the award ceremony.

The USODA Pacific Coast Championships was held in September 2015 out of the San Francisco Yacht Club. They towed out to Berkeley Circle.

Staring down the gorge from Hood River beach

We went back up to the Columbia River Gorge for the second summer in a row for the Optimist Northwest Championships. Simon wound up 3rd behind the Subbiah twins. Wind was mostly light but there were some twists in the conditions, but most notably a heat wave.
