Our first Long Beach regatta. Viewing is great form the Long Beach pier. Simon and Liam won 2 bullets in silver fleet on first day. Some of the best high school racing I've seen. 30 colleges also compete and give a presentation about their schools' sailing programs.
We used to live as newlyweds in Hood River, Oregon in the mid-90's. After 17 years, we return w/ our kids and a couple other families as we traveled to a clinic and sailing regatta in Cascade Locks. We rented a nice townhouse in Hood River for a week. Very fun seeing lots of old friends and jamming w/ Pete for 3 hours at Trillium. We sounded alright.
The conclusion of Winter BAYS down in Redwood City - hosted by PYSF. Simon wound up 2nd and Henry 4th for the regatta. Mats and Chloe, from SFYC, were first and third. 7 races on Saturday but only 2 on Sunday when it lightened up. Great racing on Saturday.
These pics are from 2 different regattas this fall. BAYS #1 was at the San Francisco Yacht Club which is actually nestled in Belvedere Cove where the "island" of Belvedere connects with Tiburon, Marin. They get towed around Belvedere and race in Richardson Bay. The swanky views from atop Belvedere sweep from San Francisco to the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito just across the way. On the second day, I managed to get some shots from a boat.
